2017 Saintn Gaudens winged liberty ultra-high relief 1 0z silver proof medal NGC PF70 UC exclusive Mercanti signed national park foundation label:
The design used on this striking medal is an early version of the Augustus saint- gardens $20 gold piece images. The obverse features the very familiar description of a lady liberty with the curious addition of angel wings & an Indian war bonnet. The reverse features a bald eagle image similar to the standing eagle on the reverse of the $10 gold coin designed by the artist. The medal was struck in high relief just as the artist intended.
When Augustus Saint-Gaudens first created his famous "Double Eagle" obverse, he designed Lady Liberty with a feather headdress and a full pair of wings! Unfortunately, the minting technology of the time wasn’t up to the challenge. However, the minting technology of today has no such issues!
Thanks to a partnership with the Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site and the National Park Foundation, you can now get this incredible 2017 Winged Liberty in flawless condition, certified Mint State-70 (MS70) by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC). In addition, this masterpiece comes sonically sealed in an acrylic case along with a label hand-signed by the restorer of Saint-Gaudens' original design, former U.S. Mint Chief Engraver John Mercanti!
Minted in a full ounce of 99.9% fine silver, it’s a wonderful, affordable way to add this historic design to your collection in stunning ultra high relief.
